Martina Vega, M.A.

Bio

Martina started her career as a communicable disease contact tracer and case investigator at a county health department to support the Covid-19 pandemic response. She then worked for Kiva to support global financial inclusion. Most recently, Martina worked for a USAID contractor implementing programs with partners in Mozambique, Myanmar, and South America. She is excited to bring together her experiences in public health and global programs to grow CEND's impact and increase capacity to treat neglected diseases. Martina holds a BA of Neuroscience from the University of Southern California and an MA of International Development Studies with an emphasis in Peace and Conflict Studies from The George Washington University. As a graduate student, she was a Bayer Sustainable Development Goals Fellow focused on increasing access to clean water and prenatal nutrition as well as improving dissemination of climate-smart agriculture initiatives. Her graduate work focused on community based land rights for environmental protection and violence reduction in Guatemala with the United States Institute of Peace. She is passionate about enacting better policies to support those forced to flee their homes due to violence, economic deprivation, and other forms of persecution.
