UC Berkeley professor to carry Olympic torch before 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Games

UC Berkeley researcher and CEND affiliate Matteo Garbelotto has been selected as one of the torchbearers for the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympic Games. He walked with the Olympic torch in hand while accompanied by his service dog, S’Abba, who helped him regain mobility after a life-changing ski accident. Their participation may mark one of the first times a service dog will accompany a person with a mobility disability in the relay. Read more about the inspiring story here.
