UC Berkeley Launches New Molecular Therapeutics Initiative to Accelerate Drug Discovery

UC Berkeley has launched the Molecular Therapeutics Initiative (MTI) to fast-track drug discovery by connecting campus labs with biotech, pharma, and venture partners to tackle “undruggable” disease targets in cancer, neurodegeneration, and rare disorders. MTI will build shared infrastructure, train students in translational science, and turn breakthrough biology in areas like metabolism and protein signaling into next-generation small-molecule and biologic therapies.
