A recent CIDRAP feature highlights UC Berkeley researcher Amy Pickering and her work using wastewater surveillance to better understand the spread of antibiotic resistance genes. By monitoring wastewater, Dr. Pickering and her collaborators are helping identify emerging resistance patterns in communities, providing valuable insights that can inform public health strategies and strengthen efforts to combat antimicrobial resistance before it becomes a larger threat.
